Ultrasound technology has recently become very common in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. This minimally invasive technique is available in our office. Needle breast biopsies can be performed under local anesthesia with ultrasound guidance, reducing the need for breast biopsies in the operating room. There is minimal discomfort and a diagnosis is made at a fraction of the cost. Once the diagnosis is made, options for definitive treatment can then be discussed and performed in the operating room.
