
- J.W. Evans, Jr., M.D.
Dr. Evans, who joined Surgical Arts, P.C., in August, 1992, is a native of Neosho, Mo. He was awarded an academic scholarship to the University of Missouri where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. Continuing his studies there, he was appointed to "Pi Omicron Sigma Honorary Society" for leadership. In 1983, he received a Master of Science degree from the University of Missouri prior to attending Medical School at Ross University. His surgical training was obtained at the Mount Sinai Hospital and the Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Ill. As a Chief Surgical Resident, Dr. Evans served as a clinical instructor as well as the Chief Administrative Surgical Resident for the Department of Surgery.
While at Mount Sinai Hospital, Dr. Evans served as a member of the Education Committee, the Trauma Committee, and the Operating Room Committee. He is currently certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support.
Dr. Evans is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Medical Association, the Alabama State Medical Association, the Cullman County Medical Society, and the Southern Medical Association.
Dr. Evans and his wife, Dianne, have two children. Dr. Evans is an avid hunter and he and his family enjoy water sports and many other outdoor activities.
